In a human body skin is the largest and most susceptible organ. There are countless common SKIN DISORDERS that need clinical help by a dermatologist. Skin infections can be of varied types like bacterial skin infections, fungal skin infections, viral skin infections and parasitic skin infections.

Skin Disorder

Skin acts as a shield against bacteria that mark foundation for infections. Bacterial skin infections can have effect on a diminutive area or a large area. Sometimes, these infections can be life threatening also. Some of the bacterial infections are- Impetigo, Cellulitis, Scarlet fever, Folliculitis, Boils, Carbuncles, etc.

Moist areas of the body like toes and diaper area are prone to fungal skin infections as skin fungi reside in the dead top layer of skin cells. These infections cause irritation like itching, swelling or blistering. Certain types of fungal infections such as yeast infection or ringworm needs a physician’s consult.

Viral skin infections occur in the form of skin eruptions as in the case of chicken pox, others in this category are-measles, rubella, and roseola. Immunization drives have reduced the cases of measles, mumps, rubella and chicken pox substantially.
Scabies and lice are examples of parasitic skin infections. Here, the parasite burrow into the skin of the host, live and lay their eggs there.
