How can you tell if a person really wants to improve themselves? This question has no definitive answer because it will all depend on that particular person. Many people have goals, dreams or ambitions but don’t have the first clue how to fulfill them. Some people have an idea on how to go about improving themselves and they are people that believe that if their job was better of if they’d been presented with better opportunities or perhaps met someone they could love or any number of things all would be right with the world and success would be theirs.

Self Improvement

These people feel their happiness or lack of happiness has been impacted by external fators so their thoughts and actions are of little consequence. Some think that if they just had more money then they could easily obtain the things they want and be on the road to self improvement. They’ve probably spent a bit of time considering the things they want out of life and don’t believe there is a single thing they can do to reach their happy place aside from the purchase of lottery tickets.

Other’s don’t even know what they really want from life and may even have little idea what sort of things would even make them happy. They just go week to week, and do little more than just make it. They may have seemingly secure jobs and may earn enough to live in comfort and seem to be happy but they don’t wish to get anything more out of their lives than they have.

Is self betterment necessary?

All through our lives we are all constantly growing and developing, circumstances are the catalyst of our growth and it happens even if we do not even if we don’t decide to change. Until we reach a certain age we get an education and we keep learning through experiences for the remainder of our lives. We must learn and grow to deal with everything that life throws at us.

Life at the present moves faster than time ever did in the past so for anyone living in this time more opportunities present themselves to do anything that you want to do with your life, than previously. But, there is also more competition than ever before, and ever changing technology means that there really are few, if any at all ‘jobs for life’ anymore. It is now normal not only to take up different jobs several times in the course of our lives but even to completely change occupations and industries.

Because the workplace is so competitive, those who crave success are aware that they must acquire new skills to keep ahead of the pack to achieve such, improvement is critical. These are the individuals that will be most likely to keep their jobs, or advance in their fields or that will be readily employable in different organizations or industries. Being committed to self improvement along with personal growth may be the determining factor how well a person’s future will develop.
